25 weeks

How far along? 25 weeks
Updates on baby: She's growing hair at this point and probably weighs about a pound and a half.
Symptoms/Body Changes: Back pain is getting worse - with Caedmon I ended up going to physical therapy because of how bad it was (but that was probably around 30 weeks). I think we're going to try to see a chiropractor just to see if that could help with some of the pain. It's no bueno. But other than that, I'm feeling really great. I forget I'm pregnant sometimes!
Movement: Much more! This morning she actually woke me up she was rolling around so much! I guess she's just getting bigger and I am more aware of all of her movements now. :)
Cravings/Aversions: none... I feel like things are pretty much as they always have been!

Getting ready for baby: I've asked a very talented decorator/artist friend from church to help me choose colors and she's coming over to check out the room soon. I took one big box of kid things to a consignment store, and have another big box ready to go to the Lexington Rescue Mission and another box of box ready to take to store at Michael's parents.  So, slowly but surely I'm getting that room cleaned out! I also received this canvas in the mail this week! I had a groupon for a photo canvas that was going to expire so I needed to pick something, stat. I took this image awhile back while doing a shoot for some friends of mine. I love, love, love the way it turned out! I'm still not sure what colors her room will be - but I feel confident this will compliment whatever we choose.

What I miss: As of right now, not a thing!
What I am looking forward to: Our ultrasound on Monday! Can't wait to see the little miss.

Weekly wisdom: Maternity tops are much, much bigger then say, normal tops. So, when buying them online - probably buy a small size then you normally would. Otherwise, things might fall places they shouldn't and it's just not very appropriate!

twenty-four

How far along? 24 weeks

Updates on baby: She is probably over a pound and about the length of an ear of corn. :)

Symptoms/Body Changes: I think that horrible stomach bug last week knocked out my morning sickness! I haven't had any at all this week. No other news to report, hooray! :)

Movement: I guess since I've been feeling better I'm moving around again a lot more and am not really noticing any movement until the end of the day after big brother is down for bed and I'm settling down for the night. Definitely still feeling movement - but more like just once or twice a day instead of throughout the day.

Cravings/Aversions: Pretty much back to normal, I think. I'm able to eat eggs again and I've been back to cooking about how much I was before. This week Michael did make a brownie run for me at about 9:30pm... I just couldn't get a brownie off my mind. Luckily, I've got a pretty wonderful husband. :)

Getting ready for baby: No news! My goal is to go look for fabric again (no luck when I went about 2 weeks ago) and hopefully find something for curtains. I'm continuing to search out Pinterest, though and am bursting with ideas as soon as we start to tackle that room. But really, I'm not feeling any need to rush (or even start) on the nursery just yet.

What I miss: I've been going to bed by 8:30 or 9. More like I just fall asleep at that time because I can't make it any longer... But I've always loved going to bed early so I don't mind it too much. The waking up at 6am, though, I'm kind of over. Wish I could sleep in!

What I am looking forward to: We have an ultrasound in about two weeks! And we're starting to throw around vacation/staycation ideas for early summer... Definitely looking forward to making those plans so I will have them to look forward to. :)

Weekly wisdom: Buy a new dress that makes you feel pretty. And belts! Go buy a belt. Every shirt I have l feel more confident in when I put a belt around the top of my belly. It makes such a difference (mentally at least, if nowhere else!)

16 weeks!

I can't believe I'm sixteen weeks already! Being at stay-at-home mom has kept me busy I think I just haven't really had time to sit and think about the baby... but when I do I'm excited.

It's weird... a few weeks ago we met a dear friend of ours baby and I remember thinking when we left, "I'm glad that we won't have one of those for many, many more weeks." And then Michael and I were looking at Caedmon's newborn pictures the other night... and we both couldn't wait to have this new baby. To see how he or she is different from our Caedmon and to see how we grow as parents. Weird how it affects your heart different when it's yours, at least for us anyway.

Well, I did this with my last pregnancy and I'd like to do it again... Maybe I'll re-post my old pregnancy posts to just see how this one compares? Any thoughts on that? No? Well, I'll probably try to do that soon... for my sake. You know, in case you're not all that interested. :)

So here we go... our first update!

How far along? 16 weeks

Updates on baby: He or she is the size of an avocado! I had a midwife appointment this week and I got to hear the heartbeat for a second, but baby was wiggling around so much it was hard for her to find it.

Symptoms/Body Changes: I still have morning sickness, only in the morning (just like last time). Even if I eat right away, I'll still get sick. It is what it is and it really doesn't even phase me too much anymore. As far as body changes go... My shirts are already becoming too short and I haven't been able to button my jeans in weeks. So, no judging if you only see me in yoga pants... Also, sleep is kind of an issue. Probably because I have to pee about every 30 minutes... no joke. (Luckily at night it's usually just once or twice but... still). And I'm so tired so much of the time. Actually, the other night was kind of a rough one. I finished making dinner. Then as soon as Michael walked in the door it's like my body said "Okay, we don't have to hold on anymore" and I got so, so sick. I was able to eat dinner but Michael made me up a bubble bath while he was putting Caedmon to bed. Next thing I knew he was waking me up... in the tub. I had fallen asleep in the bath tub. I didn't think that actually happened to people, but apparently, it can.

Movement: I feel positive I felt movement once, three days ago... but nothing since then! I felt Caedmon move between 18 and 19 weeks, so maybe it will be the same this time around. I cannot wait for those little, tiny, reassuring kicks.

Exercise: Mmmm.... I'm going to try to keep this as a section on this weekly updates but if I'm being honest, I'm probably not going to do so hot in this area. It's gotten cold here and with having two young ones during the day... it's really difficult to leave the house. But I'm hoping to find some yoga videos or something...

Cravings/Aversions: Today I've had two cravings... and my mom is here visiting so she's indulged me. The first was some of those Hostess cupcakes with the cream in the middle. I told her I wanted chocolate and she said "Oh, what kind?" And I told her and then I took a nap while Caedmon napped. When I woke up she was getting back from the store and handed me a cupcake. The second was a vegetarian burrito from Chipotle. It was 4:00 and I was so hungry, we were out and about and she said, "Okay pregnant lady whatever you want" And so that's what I got to eat... I ate the whole thing and then I even ate half of Caedmon's quesadilla he had left over. I have been hungry lately. (Strangely, though, at my last appt. I hadn't gained any weight... that has never happened for me with pregnancy appointments).

Getting ready for baby: We have an office that is our junk room. It's ridiculous we have a room full of junk, but unfortunately, we do. We've gotten rid of some books, a small book shelf, computer games, and some clothes. The only things in there now are a dresser, the computer desk, and Caedmon's bigger toys that we don't have room for anywhere else. We've also organized all of our important papers (that may have just been scattered in the corner) and I organized all of my craft supplies and moved that small tower of drawers into our bedroom. We have a long way to go, but it feels good to at least be getting started!

What I miss: Sleeping all through the night.

What I am looking forward to: This weekend! It's a three day weekend and my dad and brother and his family are coming to visit (Mom came up a few days early) and we're ordering pizza and having a game night tomorrow. We'll have a full house for certain, but it should be fun!

some big news!

Our family is growing... our newest little one is on the way! Our due date is June 25... so in a little less then 6 months we'll have a little one. We're very very excited... and a little nervous about have two kiddos under the age of two! This post may be a bit random - but full of pregnancy related things I've been wanting to talk about for weeks... so hopefully it will be entertaining/informative for some of ya'll. :)

We had decided to "stop not trying" in October of last year... and we found out in September that we were pregnant, so he/she was still a bit of a surprise for us! It was a Wednesday night and I hadn't been feeling well all day. I asked Michael to pick me up some Nyquil on his way home from rehearsal. I also mentioned he may want to pick up a pregnancy test - just in case. I was not at all expecting it to be positive... but I'm a little leery of medicines and I just wanted to make sure before I took anything. Well, the surprise was on us!

I took the test then set it on the counter, it said it would take about 3 minutes, so Michael started putting something away and I just started at the test. As soon as I saw the word "positive" appear on that tiny screen... my mind was blown. I said "Babe..." and then Michael said, "nu-uh!" and then we both just laughed and hugged and laughed some more in the kitchen. It was beautiful. I always thought for our second baby I would think of some fun way to tell him (with Caed, I woke him up at 7am to break the very surprising news!). But I think this way was still perfect. :)

So far this pregnancy has been very similar to my first, except I've been more sick. With Caed my morning sickness started at 6 weeks and lasted till week 40 (but luckily Zofran and I were great friends). This time, morning sickness started at 6 weeks again and was pretty relentless until week 12... but it's still a day-by-day thing. But weeks 6 through 10 this time were very, very difficult. My midwife almost prescribed me anti-depressants (but I refused because of the whole leery of medicines thing... and unfortunately Zofran and I haven't been friends this go around - I hear that's very common with a second pregnancy!) I was basically a crying-emotional mess for weeks (Something I never dealt with with my first pregnancy) I would lay on the couch because I was so tired and just sad... it was a rough month and I'm just thankful it's over! I'm excited to see how this pregnancy will be different from my first - it is still hard to wrap my head around the fact that it's a whole nother baby in there! Pretty awesome.

Okay, I have more pregnancy updates that will be coming soon... so stay tuned :)
